Zach is a chemist with over eight years of experience in the cannabis industry. As General Manager of Manufacturing at Bud & Mary’s Michigan, he oversees key performance indicators, cost of goods sold, team development, and works to clear the path for his team’s execution and success.
During his time with Bud & Mary’s, Zach has helped bring both the Iowa and Michigan manufacturing facilities from construction through certificate of occupancy. His product innovation work includes developing Iowa’s first all-distillate, terpene-infused vaporization product, pioneering a hybrid cannabinoid extraction process, and creating innovative solutions within the market.
Zach has built his reputation—and his team’s culture—around five pillars: consistency, attention to detail, time management, interpersonal skills, and passion. He is equally driven by revenue growth, product innovation, and the professional and personal development of those around him.
Outside of work, Zach is an avid runner, fisherman, and outdoors enthusiast. He is also a devoted movie buff with a deep love of music, particularly ’90s hip-hop and classic rock, as well as a passionate college football fan. These pursuits provide balance and perspective, helping him stay sharp and driven in his work every day.
He lives by a line from Phil Knight’s Shoe Dog: “The secret…had not so much to do with chemicals and tricks as with that most unprofound and sometimes heart-rending process of removing, molecule by molecule, the very tough rubber that comprised the bottoms of training shoes.” It’s a philosophy he brings to his teams and his own growth: relentless, methodical, and always moving forward.
