As a family-owned cannabis company, it’s important for us to foster good relationships with our employees and partners in the communities where we operate. Here are some of the ways in which we engage with our community and give back as part of our social responsibility to bring positive impact to businesses and individuals that we care about.
Community Support
Bud & Mary’s is committed to being a good neighbor and supporting local business. Each year our staff partners with a variety local organizations. Some of the groups we’ve worked with include Habitat for Humanity, Easter Seals, and Registered Neighborhood Organizations. We also prioritize partnerships with small, minority-owned businesses for our purchasing needs.
As an example of our dedication to community support, Bud & Mary’s was awarded Easterseals Iowa’s Corporate Volunteer of the Year in 2004.
The Bud and Mary’s Iowa team has also volunteered at Easterseals Iowa the past few years with multiple times this year at their facility to upkeep their grounds and garden. They have spent time with clients to offer their expertise and have attended and participated in charity fundraisers such as the Admiral’s Gala.
Our Iowa team also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity in October 2024 – the second time we volunteered last year. Our staff offered their time to assist with a build of a house for a family. We do this at least once per year in Iowa!
Cannabis Social Equity Assistance
Bud & Mary’s brings awareness to a variety of causes through our Aware-n-Us campaigns fueled by limited edition cannabis products. Many of these initiatives are social equity-driven to promote equal access to opportunities regardless of background or characteristics. Previous non-profit organizations that we have partnered with include Black Cannabis Equity Initiative, One Colorado, and The People’s Ecosystem. Learn more at batchextracts.com/awarenus.
Bud and Mary’s vape brand Batch Extracts launches a new flavor every year as part of our Aware-n-Us campaign, which is focused on promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion and providing financial support to diverse stakeholders and underrepresented communities. For example, in October 2024, Batch launched an All-In-One (AIO) OC vape product as part of our yearly AWARE-N-US initiative. A portion of the revenue from the Batch AIO OC vape product sales was allocated to Easterseals Iowa.
Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion
Each year Bud & Mary’s staff are provided with extensive DEI training. Bud & Mary’s was built on respect and continues to operate this way. Having a diverse workforce leads to better decision making, increased employee satisfaction, and inspires creativity and innovation. Bud & Mary’s is proud to represent, support, and employ individuals from many backgrounds.
Environmental Sustainability
Our Green Team is dedicated to improving our environmental footprint. We’ve made a difference by updating our facility with LEDs, the development of an employee recycling training program, the creation of an electronic recycling program, and substitution of consumables for more environmentally friendly options.
We also volunteer in our communities to help clean up the environment. We participated in Colorado’s Neighborhood Cleanup day in October 2024 and helped clean up neighborhoods near our Manufacturing facility in Denver, Colorado. This helped fulfill our community impact for the State Department for our license renewal.
